Allergy among Danish eczema patients to rubber chemicals

Rubber chemicals can cause allergies.

 

The chemicals have different chemistry, and in the diagnosis of rubber chemical allergy both individual substances like mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) and mixtures of substances such as mercapto mix and thiuram mix are used.

 

In black rubber other additives are used. These additives may also cause allergies. The substance N-isopropyl-N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (IPPD) is used either alone or mixed with other similar substances (black rubber mix) to detect this type of allergy.
