10 useful skin-care tips for prevention and treatment of hand eczema: • Wear protective gloves when working in wet conditions • Wear the gloves for as long as necessary, but as little as possible • The gloves must be intact, clean and dry • Wear cotton gloves under the protective gloves • Wash your hands in cold water and rinse and dry them well • Alcohol-based disinfectant can be used instead of soap when hands are not visibly dirty • Do not wear finger rings at work • Use an unperfumed moisturizing cream with a high fat content • The moisturizer should be spread all over the hands, including the fingers and the backs of the hands • Look after your hands in your leisure time – use protective gloves when working in wet conditions at home, use warm gloves when you are outside in cold weather
